nurturing home birth midwifery care for your body, mind & soul
"And whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me."
Northeast Kansas Homebirth Service is owned and operated by Anita Woods, a direct-entry midwife since 2004 and certified by the North American Registry of Midwives since 2007 as a Certified Professional Midwife. A member of the Kansas City Midwives Alliance, I am certified by the American Heart Association/American Academy of Pediatrics in neonatal resuscitation, and I am a graduate of Ancient Art Midwifery Institute, specifically dedicated to training homebirth midwives. I have attended over 200 births, including an internship at a Christian charity birth center in the Philippines.
I am married and have lived in the greater metropolitan Kansas City area my entire life. We have homeschooled since 1998, with three children still at home, plus one homeschool graduate serving our country in the U.S. Air Force, and another attending Tokyo Christian University. We live on 2.3 acres in a quiet, rural area of Leavenworth, and enjoy camping, swimming, and our German Shepherd rescue mutt. We attend a non-denominational, Bible-believing Christian church in Shawnee, Kansas.
Vaginal Birth After Cesarean
A former board member of the International Cesarean Awareness Network, my specialty is in vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC). I have had three cesareans and two VBAC's, one of them a home waterbirth. As a mother who breastfed collectively for 9+ years, including extended and tandem nursing, I am supportive of all forms of attachment parenting, and am an advocate for co-sleeping, cloth diapering, non-vaccination, intact boys, the quiverfull lifestyle, and other forms of natural parenting.
