Welcome!
I am Anita Woods, a Certified Professional Midwife providing nurturing homebirth midwifery care for your body, mind & soul. Serving both Kansas and Missouri, I have a small practice offering prenatal care in Leavenworth County or Kansas City. Visits are an opportunity to relax, sip a cup of tea, get to know one another, and develop that trusting friendship with the personal, one-on-one continuity of care that is the hallmark of homebirth midwifery. I have a specialty in vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC) and focus on gentle, non-interventive, parent-directed care where there are no forced testing or exams, and no time limits for pregnancy, labor or birth for a healthy mom and baby.
I have been attending homebirth since 2004, with a loving, attentive, “wallflower” style of midwifery, practicing the art of invisibility
at birth, respect of a mother’s space, and the use of natural, non-allopathic remedies for health & healing. I am certified
in Neonatal Resuscitation and am a 2007 graduate of Ancient Art Midwifery Institute which focuses specifically in training only out-of-hospital
midwives. I have served as a Christian midwife in missions work in the Philippines and am the former president of the International
Cesarean Awareness Network.
